Whatcom County
Population 8,351. The lumber resources
of the county are immense. The fir and cedar attain enormous
dimensions; three saw mills are now located upon Bellingham Bay,
one having a capacity of 100,000 feet per day. Corn, peaches and
other products mature readily and yield prolifically. The
mineral deposits of the county consist chiefly of iron and coal.
