Lists of Geographical Names

The following is a list of historical gazetteers, directories, post offices, or any other item that provide a list and descriptions of geographical names and towns online at American History & Genealogy Project.  Our great volunteers have spent many hours adding these to our website.  Here you can search for Cities, Towns, Villages, Rivers, Streams, Creeks, Mountains and many other places.  Some of the Gazetteers also list if there is a post office in the town in the year they were written. Some of the State Gazetteers also provide a general description. There are a few for specific States and Counties.
